Rapper Cupcakke hospitalized after she posted suicidal tweet

US rapper Cupcakke has been hospitalized after she took to Twitter to share a suicidal post.
The 21-year-old wrote on Twitter:

im about to commit suicide.

Fans and friends were alarmed by the tweet and rallied round her with messages of support. They also alerted authorities to her tweet and asked that she be checked on. It was later revealed that she has been hospitalized.
Chicago Police said that Cupcakke, real name Elizabeth Harris, was taken to hospital for a "mental evaluation", not for injuries sustained from an attempted suicide as fans feared.
Later Cupcakke went on Instagram to write: "Thank you for everything y'all have done for me, I really appreciate it."

It has been revealed that her friend Elijah Daniel was one of a number of people who asked the Chicago Police Department to check on Cupcakke, and was tweeting updates to reassure fans.
Chicago Police Department told Radio 1 Newsbeat:

Officers went out a few times to check on Elizabeth.
Once they got in touch with her, they took her to hospital - not for her injuries - but for a mental evaluation.

Cupcakke has previously spoken about suicide in her music.
